2006 Sebeka® Shiraz
The Sebeka South Africa Shiraz is a fruit-driven wine with jammy blackberry, dark cherry and earthy notes as well as subtle hints of brown spices, cinnamon, and toasted oak. Awarded a score of 86 and a "Best Buy" rating from Wine Enthusiast, this bright garnet wine is seamlessly well-balanced and easily paired with several foods. It is at its best if enjoyed within one year of release.
To produce the 2006 Sebeka South Africa Shiraz, the finest Shiraz grapes were thoughtfully hand harvested and gently de-stemmed to prepare for vinification. They were then crushed, pressed, and fermented in upright stainless steel tanks to retain bold fruit flavors and emphasize the vivacious hue of the wine. The juice was allowed one week of fermentation at 22-25°C, and afterwards spent five days macerating on the skins to deepen color, flavor, and aroma. All of the lots underwent malolactic fermentation to create a smoother wine with a full-bodied, buttery taste. Blake completed the process by tasting the wines and blending a small percentage of Merlot to add additional layers to the finished wine, creating a lush, smooth finish.
